St Fillan’s at the heart of the community for over 900 years

Welcome to St. Fillan’s Church, Aberdour. We are a warm and friendly semi rural parish church offering a traditional style of worship whilst reaching out to its community seeking to help, pray for and serve others in Jesus’ name.

The church is one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Scotland. This ‘miniature Cathedral’ sits in its own graveyard with views over the Forth to Edinburgh. The nave and chancel date from 1123. It was enlarged in the 15th century by the addition of a side aisle, and in the 17th by the small transeptual aisle. The church fell into disrepair in the 18th century and was restored in 1926.

Last year St Fillan’s celebrated its 900th Anniversary. It is probably the oldest church in Scotland.
