Reflections from the Pew 3

This week I was in the office! I went in be to trained on some equipment in a field that hadn’t even been thought of when I was at university.

I realised that even though most of the equipment has changed overthe last 40-50 years, the general principles have remained the same.

Question – How has your job changed since you started?

Some jobs no longer exist, most have changed by varying amounts, a few I’m sure have not changed at all.

For example, in the medical profession, the human body is the same, but our understanding of it has improved, new drugs are available and new procedures and equipment are available – there is even a different relationship between the doctor/nurse and the patient.

God and the Bible do not change, so I wonder how the training and role of the parish minister has changed over the past 40-50 years?

Also, how has the church changed?
How has worship changed?
How has the role of the parish church changed?
How has the role of the national church changed?

Question – Does the church need to change to reflect the changing world, and if so how?
