The Graveyard Records page has been updated

More information has been added to the Graveyard Records web page using information from the Aberdour Association website and Findagrave.com. Note the list only shows some of the graves – Findagrave.com shows more.

It gives a snapshot of life in Aberdour in the 1800’s for those who could afford a large gravestone.

It is surprising the number of people from this small village who went to live and work in India.

The common occupations were seafarers, farmers, ministers, soldiers, surgeons and even writers. Only one woman is listed with an occupation, that of a midwife.

The common men’s names are Robert, John, James and William, the most common women’s name is Isabel with it’s various spellings.
