The magazine was named the Crosier, after the staff St Fillan carried and with a new logo. It was printed on glossy paper with colour phots , normally 12 pages and produced in Spring and Autumn.
The church roof of 1926 had laminated and deteriorated. This was a major task, including trying to source a quarry with the correct stone. The cost was covered by legacies and grants so it was decided to roof a church in Africa.
We were teamed with Alumenda church in Malawi. Money was raised and the church was built and roofed. It culminated with a visit from two members of the congregation to see the completed work.
Another major fund raiser was for Mercy Ships, the aim was to raise £6,000 to raise money for 1,000 cataract operations. One of the events was a bed push along the avenue from Aberdour to Dalgety Bay.
2008 saw the first Family Fun Week organised by Scripture Union. This work has continued.
Other events featured regularly such as Open Door, St Fillan’s Lunches, Scottish Country Dancing, Christian Aid and Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline.
There were also some more academic articles and hints of changes to come in the Church of Scotland.
