Advent is a time in the church when we prepare to celebrate Christmas. If we pay attention to adverts and media, we should all be merry and bright and spending a fortune. This is not what Advent or Christmas is about. Especially in today’s world where the future is uncertain, money worries are high on people’s agenda and the impacts of the war in Ukraine and global warming are being felt around the world.
To provide a sanctuary amid all the chaos, St Fillan’s Church will be open 12:00 – 13:00 on Sunday 4th, 11th and 18th December.
This time and space is dedicated to let people to jump off the merry-go-round for a few minutes or the whole hour. Time to sit, absorb the tranquillity which St Fillan’s offers and maybe to light a candle in remembrance or as a prayer for help.
If you are unable to make it as this time, the church is open daily from 10am to 2pm.
