Jesus appears to his disciples
John 20:19-23
v 19
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
The disciples were bereft, they had spent the last three years of their lives following this man, Jesus. Watching, listening and learning from him about life, and God. He was different, inspirational, they had given up everything to follow him. Now the religious and Roman authorities had killed him in the most brutal way.
Thought for the week
We all suffer loss. Sometimes it can be a blessing, and others a curse. Many have lost loved ones through this pandemic one way or another, people have lost jobs, homes and confidence. It is OK to be sad, it is OK to be angry, it is OK to be scared.
However, always remember the words of Jesus in that locked room, “Peace be with you!”
