How is the Presbytery Plan working in other Parishes? Part 1

We have united with Dalgety, Inverkeithing, North Queensferry & Rosyth churches tp form Fife: Forthview Parish Church and are in the process of calling three ministers. How are others getting on with the changes proposed in the Presbytery Plan? The information below has been taken from recent press reports.

In Dunfermline it was proposed the St Leonard’s church would close. They campaigned and they have been given a five year reprieve  and a Transition Minister Rev Gayle Taylor has been appointed. She says, “part of my role is to make St Leonard’s viable in the next five years”, this involves “thinking outside the box, not doing the same old model of ministry”. There will then be a review.

In Kirkcaldy it was proposed that the four town churches (Abbotshall, Bennochy, St Bryce & Linktown) would unite, and Abbotshall & Linktown would close. The congregations voted on the proposed union, Bennochy & St Bryce voted for, Abbotshall & Linktown against. This was passed back to Presbytery and they replied saying the union will go ahead.

This shows that we at St Fillan’s should not be complacent.
