Congregations are invited to nominate participants for the Weaving Worship basic course 2022-23. The course lasts nine months with a combination of teaching sessions and practical work in the participants home congregations. The teaching sessions will begin on 13th September and meet every second Tuesday – see the Session Clerk for more information.
This course is intended as an introduction to leading worship for people with little or no experience. Participants are expected to attend the three foundation sessions and at least two others, but full participation is encouraged. There will be meetings in the spring and at the end of the course to support participants and evaluate the learning. Participants are also required to participate in worship on several occasions in their own congregation and have local supervision and evaluation (see attached document).
Participants must have a nomination from their congregation agreed by the minister/interim moderator and Kirk Session. (NB Sessions do not have to meet specially to decide this). Registrations should be returned to the Presbytery Office by 31st August to allow processing. Congregations are encouraged to send more than one person for training if possible. Cost per course per person is £30 which congregations may consider paying (or £5 per session).
A new course Weaving Worship 2 will be launched in the spring for people who have completed a basic level training (Weaving Worship or any other course). This new course will develop skills and help people already involved in worship leading in their congregations to grow and become more confident and competent in all they do. Details will be released soon – dates will likely be January/February/March.
