The theme of this year’s Christian Aid Week is “Turning hunger into hope”. The country to benefit is Zimbabwe where we meet Jessica, a mother of 4 whose husband is too ill to work. Like 7 out of 10 women in Zimbabwe, Jessica feeds her family by farming. Sadly droughts caused by a changing climate have severely reduced Jessica’s harvest and she can only give her children one meal each day of porridge. Her hope lies in a generous response to Christian Aid Week which will allow a tap to be installed on her property. Buying drought resistant seeds and getting training in growing crops in a harsh climate will help too. Donations for Christian Aid Week 2022 can be made directly on the Christian Aid website.
Back by popular demand this year is the St Fillan’s Christian Aid Week Coffee Morning which will be held in the Church Hall on Saturday May 28th from 10.00 till 12.00. As well as tea and coffee, there will be delicious home baking, jams and jellies, plants and adults and children’s books to buy, a high quality raffle and bottle stall and this year there will be a jewellery stall too. We cater for everyone!
Please come along and join the fun.
