Response to Proposed Closure of St Fillan’s Church

Due to financial pressures, the Church of Scotland is planning to reduce the number of church buildings in Scotland. Fife Presbytery have produced a Draft Mission Plan and they propose to close 38% church buildings in Fife. This includes the proposed closure of St Fillan’s Church.

If you wish to send an email or letter rejecting the proposed closure of St Fillan’s church, please send it to:

Mrs Fiona Philip – Mission Task Group Administration
Email fphilip@churchofscotland.org.uk
Address: Fife Presbytery, The Basement, 1 Howard Place, St Andrews Fife KY16 9HL
FAO: David Coulter, Clerk to Fife Presbytery
Neil Campbell, Mission Director.

The closing date for consultation is Friday 6th May.

Some ideas you may wish to mention and expand on:

  • The lack of real consultation in proposing to close the church.
  • The 900 year history of the church – Grade A listed.
  • The church is structurally sound.
  • The church is financially sound.
  • The church is well attended.
  • It is open as a place of prayer for visitors.
